So what do I use?
One of my main tools in arsenal right now is, of course, After Effects. I use it for animation and compositing. I’ve spent countless hours perfecting it and can proudly say that I’m advanced user of this software. Familiar with scripts, expressions, batch processing and much more. Often I use it to track footage and compose it with 3D elements. For that I use AE tools but also outstanding plugins such as Red Giant VFX suite or Mocha Pro. For 3D I use Cinema 4D where I do modeling, animation, camera setup, texturing and lighting. For render I’ve learned Octane and Redshift. If I’m really in hurry I use Unreal Engine to render my projects – it’s real-time and has great features, but has it’s limitations.
I’ve got fundamental knowledge of graphic editing – Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and especially Illustrator. Learning how to work with vector is essential for all 3D work that I’m doing. I don’t do Graphic design as often as I used to, but those skills help me to this day. During my younger age I got familiar with painting, sculpting, script writing and so much more creative stuff. At Arts Academy I got a chance to work with professional photo studio, which gave me basics of understanding camera and lighting.
